Choosing Your Conservatory Style

If you’re looking for a glass roofed conservatoryorangery or home extension, Owen Conservatories can help you decide what works best for your home.  From the colour and design of the frames through to  specification of the glass, we use products that feature industry-leading technology and components to create the perfect room for you.

Edwardian

Traditional Conservatory

Taking its influence from period architecture, a UPVC Edwardian conservatory offers a simple, understated style designed to blend seamlessly with the rest of your home.

Rectangular or square in form, the Edwardian has flat walls to maximise the amount of usable space. One of its most attractive features is a ‘double hipped’ or sloping pitched roof. This gives your conservatory a delightful ‘vaulted’ effect, filled with natural light. All our conservatories are design-engineered to be thermally efficient and weatherproof, so you can enjoy the space in comfort all year round.

Victorian

Victorian conservatories are traditional in style and blend in well  with period/older buildings.  They are often chosen as replacement conservatories, where customers do not wish to alter the footprint of their existing conservatory.

P / L shape

P-shaped conservatories are ideal for larger or detached properties, combining a lean-to roof with a Victorian roof. Combining a lean-to roof with an Edwardian roof, creates an L-shaped style.

The P-shaped conservatory creates a versatile style as the room extends in different directions. This gives a two-zoned space,  perhaps using the longer part of the P-shape style as a lounge or dining area, with the deeper part being used for other purposes. P-shaped conservatories can require larger proportions, so are better suited for bigger detached properties, where more space is available.

P or L-shaped conservatories combine a mix of Edwardian or Victorian styles and are ideal for creating aesthetically-pleasing additional space.

We can guide you on the design options for the rounded part of a P-shape conservatory style. Our customer choose P or L-shaped conservatories as they add useful extra space to the house whilst not taken up too much of your garden.

Lean-to

The Lean-to conservatory is the simplest style of conservatory roof,  giving a contemporary look which makes them a popular choice for modern households . This style is ideal for those who are after simple lines with a sun-room feel.

The lean-to style is perfect for properties that have restricted space under the soffit, like a bungalow, or have an area that does not allow for a conservatory. The pitch of the roof can be varied to a shallow pitch on a bungalow or a steeper pitch of a 2 storey house giving a sense of height from inside.

They are often referred to as sun-rooms or garden rooms, and they bring  huge amounts of natural light into your home, trapping the winter sunlight and converting it into heat through the glass. The simple design of the lean to can maximise the space you have while keeping the cost low compared to a conservatory.
